Congratulations Carey Assaf: OBJ Forty Under 40
We are thrilled to share that our own Carey Assaf, co-owner of Kardish Health Food Centres, is being recognized by the Ottawa Business Journal with the Forty Under 40 honour for 2016.
This business award recognizes accomplished business leaders who are under the age of 40, and who give back to their community.
Carey started out as a bulk filler back when his father, Michael, owned three Kardish franchise stores back in the 1990s. Carey and brother Robert took over those stores in 2010, and uniting all of the Kardish stores under one corporate banner and growing the company to nine stores in total.
Today Carey is the co-owner and general manager of Kardish Health Food Centre. He cites his father as his biggest influence. “I learned everything I know about hard work from him. He taught me the importance of having pride in every aspect of your business from bending over backwards for every customer who walked in the store to cleaning the corner edges of the floor with a hand scraper,” he told Ottawa Business Journal.
It’s Carey’s philosophy to never settle, and always find ways to improve in every aspect of life. As Kardish’s general manager, he is constantly reinventing policies and procedures to make the business more efficient and impactful.
Carey’s brother and business partner, Robert, was also a recipient of this honour in 2014. We are so proud of the Assaf brothers for their hard work and dedication!
Discover more about Carey and all other recipients in the June 6 issue of the Ottawa Business Journal, and see the full list of recipients here. The group of 40 winners will be celebrated at a gala at the Hilton Lac-Leamy tonight. Way to go Carey!!
