By Danielle Roe, Holistic Nutritionist & Kardish Wellness Expert
In the last couple of years, TikTok has become a popular platform for sharing and promoting wellness trends. These videos often feature catchy music and visually appealing graphics, which can make them more engaging and memorable for viewers. Additionally, TikTok's algorithm tends to favor content that is popular or trending, so if a particular wellness trend becomes popular on the platform, it can quickly gain traction and be seen by a large audience.
We’ve wrapped up the top 3 wellness trends that have gone viral in recent months so you can try them out for yourself!
1. Rosemary oil
Rosemary oil is a natural oil that is extracted from the leaves of the rosemary plant. It’s been going viral on TikTok lately, but it has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for a variety of conditions, including hair loss and dry scalp. Some people believe that using rosemary oil on the scalp can help stimulate hair growth and improve the overall health of the scalp and hair.
There is scientific evidence to support the use of rosemary oil for hair growth. One study found that rosemary oil increased the number of hair follicles and the thickness of hair in people with androgenetic alopecia, also known as male or female pattern baldness. Another study found that applying a combination of rosemary oil and minoxidil, a medication used to treat hair loss, was more effective at promoting hair growth than minoxidil alone.
To use rosemary oil for hair growth, you can mix a few drops of the oil with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil or olive oil, and apply it to your scalp. You can also add a few drops of rosemary oil to your shampoo or conditioner!
2. Sea moss
Sea moss, also known as Irish moss, is a type of red algae that is native to the Atlantic coast of Europe and North America. It has been traditionally used as a food and medicine for centuries and is believed to have a number of health benefits.
Sea moss is a good source of nutrients, including iodine, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. These nutrients are important for maintaining good health and supporting various body functions. Sea moss is also a good source of fiber, which can help support digestive health.
Sea moss has been traditionally used to support thyroid function and boost the immune system. It may also have anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties. Many TikTokers believe that sea moss can help support weight loss by reducing appetite and increasing feelings of fullness.
3. Chlorophyll water
Chlorophyll is a pigment found in plants that is responsible for absorbing light energy and converting it into chemical energy through the process of photosynthesis. Chlorophyll is often found in the form of a liquid supplement, known as chlorophyll water, which is made by extracting chlorophyll from plants and dissolving it in water.
There are a number of potential health benefits associated with consuming chlorophyll water:
- Detoxification: Chlorophyll water can help support the body's natural detoxification processes by neutralizing toxins and heavy metals in the body.
- Digestive health: Chlorophyll water may help support digestive health by promoting regular bowel movements and reducing bloating and gas.
- Skin health: Chlorophyll water helps support skin health by reducing inflammation and promoting healing.
- Immune function: Chlorophyll water has immune-boosting properties and helps support the immune system.
