About Vegans of Ottawa
“Vegans of Ottawa in an online community based on Instagram. See their page here. The page is community-oriented, where vegans and the veg-curious can learn about new and exciting things happening in the Ottawa-Gatineau vegan scene. Members often share their discoveries with the #vegansofottawa hashtag, as well as through Direct Messages to be broadcasted by the page curator. @VegansOfOttawa content highlights vegan job alerts, vegan-friendly events, products, stores, and restaurants to discover. Since the page is community-centered, there are no 'paid ads' or promos—it's all about sharing and caring, as well as supporting the local businesses that allow us to thrive on this lifestyle!
The Vegans of Ottawa online platform is curated by Joelle Tremblay.
During her studies, and upon completing her Master’s degree, Joelle spent over two years abroad and partook in different communities based on veganism. This is when she realized there were no social media platforms for the vegan community in Ottawa. With a fresh outlook, the certified yoga teacher and mom of two furry friends started engaging more in her own community. This is how @VegansOfOttawa was born! Joelle also organizes and co-hosts local events with other vegan-minded individuals, was the host of a vegan television show called ‘Vegetalien pour Presque rien’ (vegan on a budget), and was the face of the Summer Fling Vegan Pop-Up that made local news last Summer. Currently, Joelle aims to support local businesses and community members to grow the plant-based movement!
Power to the community!”
